Greetings from Chairperson of the HKIP 30th Anniversary Organizing Committee

Message from the 30th Anniversary Organising Committee

It is hard to imagine that it is already nine months since we first announced the preparation for the 30th Anniversary of the Institute in July 2008. We started off with four persons in the core team and there are now more than a dozen of us and still many more in the committees. We started off with vaguely any idea of how we could approach this 30th year and now we are working on a more solid theme and framework.

We agreed at the outset that the Anniversary celebrations should be forward looking, to promote our vision for the planning profession in the coming decades. We believe that being friendly to the Planet is the critical path for the future, hence, we fixed the theme as “Planning for Environmentally Friendly Cities”. For the activities, we have chosen Member's Involvement, Professional Development and Community Outreach as our key foci.

Being the chair, I take myself only as the caretaker; the creative ideas and dedicated efforts must be attributed to the many members of the core team and committees. I wish to take this opportunity to thank all who have dedicated their time and effort to make the 30th anniversary bright and cheerful.

We also look forward to welcoming more of you at the upcoming events!

Ms Johanna Cheng
Chairperson
On behalf of the 30th Anniversary Organisation Committee
